My air plants bottom leaves are turning brown/yellow and curling up and dying. Not enough water? Not enough light?

Most of mine have gotten (root) rot and croaked. 😢 I’m now avoiding the water bath and seeing what I can get away with just by misting.

I ripped all the dead ones off. More dry and brown than mushy.
