Have I cold shocked my new plant? I bought this guy about a week ago and he was in the car in ~50 degree weather for a few hours. Since then, he’s lost about half of his leaves- they’re just falling off with the stems attached. Looks like the leaf stems are rotting, although I’ve inspected the whole plant, including the roots, and I’ve seen no pests or rot anywhere. Help! Edit: I have transferred him into water. Hopefully he will do ok.

sounds like it’s stress from moving. temps would need to be under 40 to cause cold stress on most plants

Interesting. I’ve never had plants that’ve gotten stressed from moving before. Thank you!

it’s not actually the moving that stresses plants but rather adjusting to a new environment. the leaves have grown adapted for its old environment, so it will need to grow new leaves better suited for its new specific conditions
