i’m thinking about getting this plant for myself: i know some Alocasias can be difficult, how is this one? I only have north facing windows and would probably keep it inside with regular humidity, no extra humidifier.

Grow light and humidifier. If you’re not going to get extra stuff to make it thrive, then just don’t do it.

I’m in upper Midwest. Mine did well outside on east facing porch until cool weather. Now doing well in cabinet with humidity (60+%, pebble trays only) and grow lights timed to sunrise/sunset.
2 LikesUsually with Alocasia they’ll do way better with extra grow light and humidity. They’re just so picky and such divas, even with a grow light and humidifier most of mine refuse to grow more than three leaves!
2 LikesI recommend if you still plan on trying your luck with this guy getting a small grow light, there’s some good cheap ones on Amazon that just plug right into the wall, and misting can help with humidity too!
