What do you guys think is the best medium for growing alocasia corms? I’ve tried unsuccessfully in water (took 6 months for the first leaf to sprout, then I forgot to refresh the water and it died). I’ve got some variegated alocasia Frydek corms coming in January and I want to give them the best start possible.

Sphagnum moss!! Put em in the moss with the pointy bit facing up, make sure the pot you are putting them in has a lid and open it every 3 or so days for fresh air, make sure they get light and they should sprout in a few weeks 🫶

You can also try perlite but the moss has worked best for me

i’ve heard great things about aquarium stratum, the kind for aquatic plants. solum or fluval are brands i’ve heard. i’ve yet to try this method but it’s supposedly wonderful for rooting all kinds of plants

I’ve had 100% success with it in water. I followed Aloha Plant Life’s YouTube video on her step-by-step corm growing and it worked perfectly!
