Spider plant likes bright, indirect light. In low lighting they are less likely to produce babies and will grow more slowly. I like using this light chart to help guide me with lighting.

Spider plants will lose color and possibly droop if lighting is too low. It will also drop leaves. Add a grow light, if needed. They are not too expensive online.
