Polka dot plant: I need some advice in regards to my polka dot plant. A few months ago when I got it, it seemed to be doing great and was super colorful. Since then over time it’s grown a lot, but has lost almost all of its pink color. The pink is still there but it’s super faded. It also always has leaves falling off. Is something wrong with my plant? Or how can I get the pink color back? Does it need a bigger pot now? Additionally about a month ago or so it bloomed these tiny purple flowers? I didn’t even know it could do that! What does that mean?

I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure polka dot plants complete their growth cycle after flowering - which means it might just be nearing its natural end :/

Which is so sad because that’s a beautiful, lush plant!

I believe too much light can wash out the color as well.

They lose old leaves constantly as a normal part of their growth cycle. To keep it full and lush you need to stay on top of pruning. Even if it’s near the end of its growth cycle you should be able to prune it back and start over.

I’d just gotten some in a trade, rooted/planted them & this is their 2nd time blooming.. 😁 Might need more sun if it’s losing color, or need a fertilizing? 🤷🏻‍♀️ has it had a soil change? I know that Flowering plants expend more energy..

same thing (faded pink, leaves falling off) happened to mine. it just recently died. I took some cuttings to see if they root but who knows. she hated me from the start, haha. hope yours does better than mine! 🤞🏽

Hmm maybe it’s the type of plant that needs to be constantly propagated & planted back in the pot as they die off? 🤷🏻‍♀️ My goldfish plant does that, cute lil pain in my butt plant.. 😂
