Do I need to use tropical soil for tropical plants?? Or dose any soil work? Thanks!

You’ll want to use a well draining mix for most tropical plants! Most plants will benefit from a chunkier mix rather than just ordinary potting soil. Excess moisture can lead to root rot and pests so chunky is almost always better in my opinion.

Chunky is always better! No truer words! 🥰 However, do you absolutely have to? No. When I first started I used whatever was in front of me. And now they’re a ton of soil less options even. So to each his own. I have definitely become a soil snob without even knowing it. I love a chunky mix. I have less pest and because I use so many moss poles I know the water will drain right through. Hell I don’t even use soil for some of my plants. But if the question is will my plants grow in soil alone then the answer is yes.

I usually google “best soil mix for [insert plant name here]” and it tells you the best ingredients for that plant. I’ve used this method for my entire collection and it’s never failed me.
