See below for update: Please help…. 😩 What are the best conditions that you guys have for the jungle velvet/calathea warszewiczii? I’ve had mine in a west facing window for about six months. And it just keeps just hanging on. It’s OK but it’s not green and there are brown tips on the leaves. But there is new growth happening. Thank you for everybody’s input.

I’m still trying to get my lighting right. I’ve moved it to lower light and it seems happier. The crispy tips are just the nature of the plant. Try putting it on a pebble try or getting a little humidifier. That might help. Good luck 🍀

crispy tips are likely caused by the type of water you are using, and not the ‘nature’ of the plant. most tap water has excess minerals that prayer plants can’t handle. low humidity and under watering can also cause the leaves to dry. the pictured plant is also not a calathea warszewiczii but a maranta leuconera

They are picky about water so I use rain water on mine.

yep! rain water and/or distilled water are the way to go for mineral-sensitive plants like calathea

I’d move it a few feet back from the west window, as the light could be too harsh for its delicate leaves

Well it’s been bout 2 weeks. Here’s an update. So I decided to repot the caletha in a terra-cotta pot. Because I am an overwater. When I took it out of the plastic pot, evaluated the roots and the dirt, I found that it was in a little net type mesh bag. So I removed the bag Gently. I’ve never seen a plant come like that before. Then I repotted it and I think might have killed it.
