I have this string of hearts cutting given to me by a friend, I was wondering the best way to give it a chance to grow roots? I have perlite and coco coir fibre for propagation and soil mixes, of course as well as water propagation. What method would be considered the best for a string of hearts?

I have had the best success with long strands in water. However to have to multiple growth points I would cut each node and place each node in perlite that is sitting in a tiny bit of water all the time so the perlite can draw up as much water as it needs to stay damp. Cover the container with a clear lid or plastic wrap to increase humidity. Set it either under a grow light or on a windowsill.

I see! I already have a little perlite chamber for my monstera node which has rooted really well, would I just cut the strand in half as pictured and then place them both into the chamber too?

Yep. Make sure the node right between the leaves is buried in the perilite as that is where the roots will grow from.

I love string of hearts. They are easy to care for and fast growers. I’ve never propagated as of yet

A very beautiful plant! I’m very excited to add it to my collection, which is probably the cause of my anxiety toward propagating it properly haha!
