Just recently got big plants and want to put them in our living room but we have cats. They already like playing with my smaller potted ones on a stand. Was wondering if there were any ways to deter them away from the bigger ones specifically?

A spray bottle with water. You don’t need to even hit them with the spray. The sound near them is enough to scare them off and will train if done every time.

In my experience they just have to get used to them, mine just ignore them now. But you can spray citrus at the base of the plant and the soil and that’s supposed to deter them. Wouldn’t recommend a spray bottle that doesn’t work on cats it just makes them scared of you.
1 likeYou might want to be careful here. Citrus oil is toxic to cats.

Only if ingested and very mildly! If you add it into the soil and add a little bit more soil on top they will not be able to come in contact with it, but they hate the smell and will stay away.
0 likesI’ve heard of people putting foil in the pots because cats are irrationally scared of it? Idk I haven’t tried it myself
3 likesI have seen this done, but not tried it myself. Best of luck

😂 Just goes to show all cats are not made alike, just like hoomans. What works on some, won’t on others.
