chanterelle

6 weeks ago vs today, this Rhapidophora decursiva has grown probably 16in of bare stalk! The curled up leaf in the left photo is the highest one on the right photo. Trying keiki paste on a couple of nodes as an experiment. Has anyone had a similar experience with one of these? She sits directly in a south facing window so it cant be lack of light

Yes, mine has done that too. Even the ones at my local greenhouse where I bought mine do it. If the plants stay too long at the greenhouse, they become an absolute tangle of runners! I don’t know why they do it though. My Rhapidophora tetrasperma doesn’t do it. I put keiki paste on mine in the beginning of the summer. The top started growing nice leaves again, but I didn’t get any activated nodes. I didn’t notch it though. That might make a difference

Yup. Same. And I can’t get it to fenestrate either. I thought it was because it’s a crawler and I’m growing it up a moss pole. 🤷🏽‍♀️But I cut the runner and just keep growing 🥺🤞🏽

Mine is fenestrating but I’m not sure what caused it 😅 I’ve been letting mine crawl. The fenestration started when I used keiki paste and put it outside for the summer. So it’s possible those are factors

I have two plants. Their new leaves split shortly after emerging. Almost all the leaves have split except the oldest close to the soil. I have no idea why they split. I can tell you that mine have been in their 4 inch nursery pots since I bought them. They have grown well and are pot bound, to say the least!😅 So, I never repotted. The soil very quickly dries out. I water twice a day in summer and every 2 days when they are inside for winter. I will soon repot to combine both plants. I use Osmocote timed release fertilizer. The plants were on a North facing covered patio in summer. They were in bright shade getting only 2 hours of morning sunlight. They are getting no direct sunlight inside the house, right now.
