I have a ZZ plant that has sit in an east facing window since I got her. Within the past 4 months, the oldest stems’ leaves started to turn yellow and brown. I had to cut the whole stem off down to soil level. I’ve lost 5 stems so far - what could be going on? The pot has two small drainage holes and I water bi-weekly in summer and once a month in winter.

Mine if I’m my office with zero windows. I know these can pretty much be neglected and do well.

Too much water. They have rhizomes — so they store their own water. My zz plant has done well with a little neglect. I rarely water went planta says to… I would use a chopstick to check the entire pot for dryness… and then wait two more days before you water.

I was told to water my Z plant when I pay my rent 😂😂 meaning once a month! Maybe try leaving the plant and dirt sit outside the pot on some paper towel to help absorb some of the moisture.

Thanks everyone! I’ll let up on the watering schedule and see how she does!
