Hey plant friends! So i have two air plants (they are the same species just one is younger) and i just figured out how you’re actually supposed to water them which is out of their pot and submerged in water! Anyway, i digress; i just pulled them both out of their pots and found out they have no roots!!!!??? I’m super confused! They seem healthy and have grown since i picked them up from the grocery store last month. Just so odd to see a plant with no roots lol Anybody have any input on this?

I kept one on my work desk with no windows and no water for at least six months and the thing didn’t change a bit … I’m not sure the answer to your question, but wanted to reassure you there is a good chance it’s fine

Air plants don’t always grow roots. Their natural growth habit is “epiphytic,” which means they hang onto other plants such as trees instead of growing in the ground. They’ll grow roots to hang onto bark if it’s present, otherwise they just chill 😎 I’ve found Planta’s schedule for air plants to be pretty reliable, so it should work for yours too if you’d like to use it. I love these guys. They’re underrated in my opinion

I keep mine in a east facing window and soak them once a week in water for about 15 minutes, dry them off carefully and then put them back in their lil “happy spots”. I’ve had mine for over two years and they seem to be doing fine. They are a “new” kinda plant for me and I love them!!
