Rub-a-dub-dub. Three Ngern Lai Ma in a tub! 🛁😄 The bath is a preventative measure for my lance leaf syngoniums before repotting. They had mild scale and mealybugs when they were delivered. That quickly cleared up. I just brought two plants inside and at least 2 fungus gnats came with them and found my syngoniums. This bubble bath cleans the debris and all hitchhikers. There are more roots than soil, so, it wasn’t messy.

When you do this do you put the whole pot in, including the dirt? It doesn’t harm it at all?

It doesn’t harm it. I spray my plants with soapy dishwater every time I see fungus gnats including the soil. I spray every new plant with it. I would test sensitive plants like African violets or prayer plants. I use Dawn dishwashing liquid. I would not use liquid soap with creams or other additives. I would never use anything with bleach which kills the plants.

There is very little loose soil in these pots. But, I typically don’t use my sink. I have used a 5 gal Home Depot bucket to soak an entire plant in soapy water to infiltrate the soil that had earwigs.

Thanks. It’s not one of the popular ones. But, it’s so easy to care for. I’ve had them in that tiny pot all summer. I have combined them into an 8 inch plastic pot.
