Hello! I’ve been gifted these plants to see if I can try and save them🫣 I’m still learning and not sure what I can do with these! Any advice or tips are welcome and much appreciated?! Thank you šŸŖ“šŸ«¶šŸ¼

This is gonna be a mouthful of advice for you, so buckle up! 1) Always go by planta’s advice, water, mist, clean, fertilize, ( I normally am lazy, so I water instead of fertilizing, it still works) 2) You should always detail the progress updates, as you can see how far you’ve come and tell your gifter that it’s all alright. 3) If you miss one day of watering, it’s not the end of the world, but I wouldn’t go over a week of missing. 4) If you have any concerns/questions/is my plant okay? I always go here to the community tab, and ask away, as the people of planta’s community tab usually don’t leave you hanging for long. 5) Also expanding on that šŸ‘†Dr. Planta has helped diagnose many of my sick plants, so again, any concerns, go straight there as they can tell you how to cure it too. That’s all! Good luck! 🪓 🫶

Sometimes planta tells you to water too early. As a general rule, you should water when the top inch of soil is dry. Philodendrons can do well if you wait until the soil is completely dry before the next water. But you should always check before you water. The other one should do well i believe it is pretty low maintainance :)

I agree that you can end up with root rot by strictly following Planta’s watering schedules without verifying the plant actually needs water. The schedule is a guide. Planta does not know all the parameters affecting your plant.

Clean the leaves with soapy dishwater to remove dust and debris. Diluted vinegar and water can remove hard water stains. There are markings that insects were/are on the plants. Spray with soapy water once a week until you are sure no insects are living in the soil as hitchhikers. Spray the undersides, the soil and under the pot. I have had millipedes come out of the drain holes. 😬 Don’t cut off the damaged leaves until new leaves grow out. The plants are small and need those leaves for photosynthesis. Watering issues are the biggest reasons plants die as stated in the advice above. Place them in bright indirect light or under a grow light to get six hours of light. Fertilize regularly in the warmer months. Reduce or stop in the codlder months. Timed release fertilizer like Osmocote beads in the soil works well. Good luck šŸ€
