Hi guys. I have this monstera with me for almost about 2yrs now. This sits about 5ft away from east facing window and gets enough morning light. I was away for 2days and when i came back, i saw this. It’s the newest leaf on this plant and has this huge dark spots evenly on one side only. I have no idea what this could be or how this leaf ended up like having such big patches. Guys, I would really appreciate your help on this.

  1. Kakes!

I JUST HAD THIS HAPPEN TO MINE!!!! I had recently put up a clear shelf on my window and I realized that it was acting like a magnifying glass and burned the leaves in a couple areas, just like yours. It looks like you might have something that is focusing the light right there. What’s on or near the window? any glass or mirrors, etc?

  2. Sunny

I suspect sunburn from a sliver of light. New leaves are more sensitive to UV rays assuming the plant was in direct sunlight.

It gets sunlight through the window, and direct light only when the window is kept open. But i agree with yours explanation of sunburn so i am on the look out. Thank you again..it’s a relief knowing even the could be cause.
