Quick Question My Fellow Plant Parents. So I Changed Out My Soil With New Soil For My Plants But Living In SC I Try Not To Have My Plants In The Sun For Too Long On The Balcony Because They Get Really Hot & Start To Crisp Up So I’ll Put Them In The Shade As Well & I Mist Them From Time To Time. But I Noticed That When It’s Really Hot Out They Tend To Wilt But Once It’s Cooler Out They Bloom Right Up. Also After I Water Them The Next Day Or 2 They’re Completely Dry. What Can I Do So That They’re Not Drying Up So Quickly?

What are the plants you have? Plants like alocasia’s need really well draining water.

Well the ones that are drying out quickly are my peppermint, sweet bay magnolia and my eucalyptus plants.

Ah okay, what you can do is relocate them to a shady place with indirect sunlight this will prevent them from drying out too quickly and going crisp. I’ve personally never had these plants before, but research into seeing if they can be replanted into soil mixtures that retain more moisture.

Thank you. I’ll definitely look into that!

I don't know about the other two, but I think peppermints aren't super into full sun! They might prefer a shadier, cooler spot- as for their soil drying out too quickly, I have seen this trick a few places and I am not sure if this is exactly how its done but this is pretty close- take a plastic water bottle, fill it up, unscrew the cap partway (just enough for the water to slowly drip out when the bottle is flipped upside down) and stick it upside down partway into the soil of your pot to where at least the cap is under the soil level. That might help some of your thirstier plants, although I probably wouldn't try it with plants that like to dry out between waterings, such as succulents! Hope this helps! 😊
