I bought this baby from my job for only $5! This is my first calathea & I'm nervous bc I've heard they're divas but nonetheless I'm so excited she's here! Any advice for helping her thrive in my home would be highly appreciated! Also if any of you know what this discoloration is that would be helpful. Thank you! **update** I repot her as soon as I got home & I noticed some tiny webbing! She has spider mites 🥲 fortunately for me I invested in some neem oil.

Calathea love water. Best tip I could give is allow the top 2’ of soil to dry out partially. I water once a week. It sits next to a window to the side. Water 1-2 weeks depending on light conditions. With the cooler weather they are adverse to cold drafts so I would recommend moving it to a place a tad distanced from windows or ac units. When watering fill a bucket and let it sit 24 hours. This allows the chlorine and fluoride to evaporate. Calathea do better with dechlorinated water.

You’re welcome! And rest assured when you figure it out they will return the favor. Mine struggled until it didn’t and now it loves me back haha.

You got this! They’re actually pretty straightforward once you get to know them haha. Never tap water with them, only rain or distilled water ✨💕
