Beautiful! Do you do anything specific to help your plant flower?

No. Not really. I have it under a grow light. I have started using them more the past year. Normal potting soil.
いいね 1件It’s beautiful and so shiny! It’s a Thanksgiving cactus, though. You can tell by the very pointy set of “ears” on each segment.

So should be blooming around Thanksgiving?
0件のいいねI would say it’s actually a Christmas, as thanksgiving cacti tend to have a more red hue
いいね 1件Yes, they would typically bloom in November. But, growers force them to bloom when they want to sell them. They typically need 12hours to 14 hours of total darkness and cooler temperatures for severel weeks to put out buds. It stimulates their natural environment.
いいね 1件It’s easier to tell the difference between cacti based on the leaf edges than the flowers. The pointy eared leaves are Thanksgiving cactus. The less point eared ones are Christmas cactus that bloom January-ish. The almost smooth edged ones with the oval shaped leaves are the Easter cactus that naturally bloom in spring. Several online charts show the difference between the three. They come is several flower colors. ‘Christmas cactus has purplish-red flowers; Thanksgiving cactus comes in white, pink, salmon, orange, and yellow; and Easter cactus flowers can have pink, orange, red, or white hues.’— ref. Southern Living magazine.
