i pruned my string of hearts since some of the vines were touching the floor, and i thought i’d measure this time— the longest one was 64 inches long! that’s almost as tall as me… and i will probably have to trim it again in a few weeks

Woah! I just got string of hearts cuttings, hopefully mine grows that well. Can we see yours? And what lighting do you give it to keep it so happy?

i’m not entirely sure since i got it this spring, but i can’t imagine it took more than a year or two, this guy grows like a weed. i have to trim the lower vines every month or so. i water when the leaves are somewhat soft and the soil is mostly dry, using the taco test when i need to. it’s about a foot or so back from a northwest facing window and gets indirect light all day, and a touch of direct light in the evenings. i’ve also noticed it grows faster in the humidity vs the drier areas of my home. most important things for string of hearts i think are well-draining soil and a small pot, since they have shallow and delicate root systems

for those of you who have hanging plants and space is at a premium, i highly recommend going to target or walmart and getting one of those freestanding clothes racks. i have two and they only cost about $10 each!

Yes they make some sure inexpensive ones too!! Be careful w the weight of the plants tho bc it would be a shame it if snapped and any plants for damaged in the process!! You can also DIY the heck out of a plain one, with lights/ decorations and what not!!

I recently got 3 stems that already had roots from someone who was propagating their string of hearts and I have had them in soil but they aren’t doing to well (a few yellowing leaves and looking a little droopy) and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for getting it to grow more stems and also be healthier. Do I just need to propagate it some more to get more stems?

yes to propagating! that and coiling the vines around the top of the pot are the only ways i know of to make vining plants fuller. do you know what your string of hearts props were rooted in? i start mine in water, then move to semi-hydro (perlite) and then to soil, i’ve found this method works best since water roots are so delicate and this species already has fragile roots
