Need some help with my FLF, I brought it home already potted from Home Depot a few days ago, I’m guessing it’s going through some stress of being in a humid green house, to an air conditioned home. The front of the plant is looking great and when I turned it I noticed some browning of the leaves where the shade is in the back. I watered 3 cups today, it’s around 4.6ft tall. It has a drainage hole on the bottom and no water actually came out but the soil at the bottom and the top feels perfectly moist throughout. Since it was dry I did not want to over-water. It dried out quicker than I thought it would, it was fairly watered a few days ago when I brought it home. I cleaned the leaves and pruned some of the brown spots, but I’m wondering if I need to turn it daily to make sure that doesn’t happen again? I’ll get it on a watering schedule now that it’s home and I cleaned the leaves off. Very temperamental plant! Any advice is helpful :)

Is it getting enough bright light? I know they can be quite temperamental if the lighting isn’t enough. I have mine situated under a grow lamp to make sure 👌🏼

over watering has to do with frequency, not the amount of water. and i always discourage people from watering their plants on a schedule because that is how they end up overwatered. for ficus, which are drought tolerant, i’d wait until 1/4 to 1/2 of the total soil is dry, then saturate the soil with as much water as it takes, i find sometimes it’s as much as a gallon for a large pot. i water until the pot feels very heavy and there is lots of water coming out the drainage holes

Thank you! I watered it today but just enough to feel that the bottom of the soil was moist - should I water it some more or wait for it to dry out

for now i’d say wait til it dries out and give it a thorough soak next time, since it sounds like you’ve moistened the soil throughout
