Plant newbie here… I just watered one of my plants and the water just went straight through the soil. Is this my indicator that it needs to be transplanted?

it can mean the soil is hydrophobic, when this happens i just pour a small amount slowly, wait, and repeat until the soil is saturated

Yes, Plant Father is right. Be careful though. I’ve bought new plants whose soil was so dense, I had to repot them to save them. I’ve had good results repotting in coco coir, or coco coir mixed with sphagnum moss.

You could also try bottom watering for a few hours, that’ll let the soil get good and soaked

This right here. I do that to my plants that have water run straight through and it works like a charm!
