    Death plug, as many of us call them. It’s a mesh that growers use for small plants before upgrading them to real pots. Luckily your plant busted through. Some plugs are thicker plastic and end up strangling the plant. I would remove as much as you can while you’ve got the roots out

      Thank you so much! I was able to remove all of it and separate the plant into 2

      Tell me about it! I’ve probably found even more. I had two poor aglaonema that I accidentally didn’t repot after buying (sign my collection is too big for me to handle lol). All the roots were jammed in those little plugs and they hardly ever grew new leaves. As soon as they were free from the plugs they’ve been growing new leaves like mad!

    I found a mesh of death today. That’s three in the last three months. It was stifling the growth of my Loco Alocasia.
