hi!! i bought a fern today, and i was told that they require a lot of humidity. the employee told me i can take it into the bathroom while i shower as a way for it to get a little moisture, but the humidity wasn’t leaving my shower bc it has closed in doors, so i put it inside in the corner of the shower floor. i had accidentally gotten a blob of soap on a couple of the fern’s leaves, but quickly wiped it off. is there anything else i should do? just a bit concerned

maybe give it a good rinse, but other than that, it should be just fine. :)

as long as you rinsed it off it should be fine. for your information though, leaving the plant in the shower with you only allows it to enjoy humidity for however long your shower is, but plants like ferns need pretty consistent high humidity, so if the air in your home is dry it will lose portions of its leaves during transpiration

how can i provide consistent humidity? i live in new york city where’s its VERY humid a lot of the time, but during the colder months it loses that humidity. i’m currently on vacation in california where it’s pretty dry as well

Could always place a humidifier and invest in a thermo-hygrometer to see what levels of indoor humidity your getting and cross match it with the info you find in research as far as the soap goes if your really concerned you could water through the plant for a few watering sessions watering through is when you too water till it comes out the drainage make sure you get all spots of the plant ferns especially can be dramatic
