i fell in love with this plant at the store, it’s a calathea and i know those are highly temperamental but I was wondering if peacock plants are any easier than the other calatheas? i don’t want to buy if they’re too difficult 😭

As long as you have them in indirect light (either a northern window, an eastern window with a sheer curtain, or multiple feet from western/southern windows that have sheer curtains) and use distilled water I think it would be worth trying :) I got my first maranta recently (a Stromanthe) and it has done very well.

And keep on top of pest prevention. And it looks like that soil is all peat/coco coir so you may want to add in some perlite or orchid bark once it settles in.

Just do it! A great tip I had to learn the hard way: don’t oversize the pot! The extra moisture will lead to all sorts of pest problems and rot! But just try it :) guaranteed 98% of people just buy it without researching it and you’ve already done that! And if you love it, it’s meant to be ❤️

The most important thing with calatheas is humidity. Either get a humidifier or put them on a humidity tray. Otherwise they will get crispy tips and won’t thrive.

Yes! I only have one north facing window in my studio, and I’ve seen great success with just a grow light and humidifier!
