Hey guys, I’d like to pick your brains. I want to downsize my collection for the winter, ideally by selling some plants. It would be nice to recoup a little money for my crazy hobby lol. Would you buy plants from someone who set up a table in your neighborhood? What kind of prices would you be willing to pay? I want to charge equivalent to what my plants would be worth at the local store, but it would be a bummer if no one wanted to buy them at that price. I also have props, cuttings, and a few plants that need some TLC which I would definitely sell at a big discount

    I would screech my brakes just to see what plants you are selling!! Then, I would impulsively buy a few things especially if I see the mother plant and know how my new purchases could look! I rarely carry cash and would need alternatives. Labels telling me the correct names of the plants would be appreciated. So, I can look up the care info.

    I’d probably stop if I saw something like that if it was just me or other people wanted to as well but I’d recommend having set prices and either a sign saying no bargaining or having a set lowest you will go for each size/type of plant in your mind and stick to whatever you have set (unless it seems necessary to lower the prices like you aren’t getting any bites after a few hours) but $10-15 is great for a 6in pot but my biggest recommendation would be to not impulsively give something for $7 if you said you would only take $10 for that is posted at $15 And also don’t get stressed about this cause I always hear trying to make a hobby profitable or even getting a few bucks out of it can stress anyone out and make someone resent the hobby so just remember this is supposed to be a fun hobby if you’re getting stressed out and not having fun feel free to shut down the sale and find some plant friends who will buy them from you or Facebook marketplace or a local farmer’s market so all that to say have fun with it Best of luck!!!

    Another option is finding some Facebook plant swap groups. I’m in a few for my area and people do “plant purges” on a pretty regular basis in them ☺️
