Just curious! If you still remember, what was your first ever plant? Is there a story behind it, and is it still with you to this day? Mine was an oregano, one of those "living herbs" you can find at a supermarket. It died in a few days, but I wanted to try again and got another one (plus a basil plant)... and now here I am 🤭

My first plant was many years ago(I didn’t have any after that for a long time), and it was a small Ivy in a bright red pot. The problem is that it there was a cactus growing right next to it, and it wound around the cactus. It was the type that had tiny spikes that dug into your skin and you could never find them! Anyway, this lead to both my love of trailing plants, and my hatred of cacti 😂

My first plant was a cyclamen I got from my boss in high school when my grandpa passed away…it was so beautiful I can’t even describe the shade of purple. But of course I was a n00b and poured water over the plant foliage and rotted it. But I’ll never forget it!

First plant was a cactus (not sure which type) I got it when I was about 13. It had many many babies over the years which I gave most away. I didn’t know much about plant pests and one year when I was in my early 20s I had repeated outbreaks of very large black flies and was convinced they must be hatching from my plants so I got rid of all of them. I know better now, and I still relive the tragedy of putting my beautiful cactus in the bin. I hope its babies are out there somewhere living their best life. Didn’t have houseplant forums and facebook back then, how different it could have been :(

My first plant was a spider plant in our first apartment 28 years ago. I still have it and it is going strong.
