I’m going to be buying a cutting to try to propagate from this Thai monstera. I’ve never propagated a monstera before. Any tips that could help me grow a healthy plant?

The best way (in my opinion) is perlite. I currently have about 10 Monstera Esqueleto cuttings propagating in perlite. Roots grow fast!

i’ve heard monstera thai constellation is really susceptible to root rot, even for an already rot-prone plant. i’d recommend propagating some other things (pothos is very easy, and regular monstera deliciosa could help you get a feel for how often you need to change the water) and getting comfortable with the process before undertaking one of these. if you choose to go through with it as your first monstera propagation i’d recommend researching as much as possible, and seeing how others have propagated this plant
5 LikesThanks for the heads up about the root rot! I’ve only ever propagated pothos which were super easy so this is pretty new territory for me.

no problem, and good luck! i’ve found even regular m. deliciosa cuttings rot easily, i change the water on mine every day or every other day since the tender roots rot in standing water after about 3-4 days in my experience

Depending oh the price of the cutting, it may be worth it to just spend a little extra and get a rooted plant in soil

0 LikesI’ve been growing the roots for about a month now and it’s going great! I’ve been propagating in water and leca and changing the water every other day. I add hydrogen peroxide once a week to help prevent root rot and the roots are super sturdy and starting to make subroots. Im going to be potting it before winter hits and hopefully I’ll have some baby leaves soon! Thanks to everyone for the advice!
