It looks like you forgot to remove the skin off the seed! You need to soak it in water for like a day then it will peel right off. This will speed up the germinating process so you will get the roots growing!

I can’t tell from the picture, but, make sure the split in the seed is vertical, flat side of the seed is in the water. This ensures the root grows into the water and the top stays dry. Ensure the sticks are not in the split or the roots and new leaves can be damaged.

Just remember to change the water every so often! since it is open water bugs do like to lay eggs in it 🥴 also i do recommend taking that brown skin off like the other comment said best of luck!!

When it is ready to be potted make sure it has partial direct sunlight and is out side, also what type of climate do you have in summer and winter. This will help with advice! How much in of rain?😅 Also if it snows an avacadotree is not a good idea!😅

Thank you all for the advice! Vici, It hasn't snowed much here in the past few years, but during the winter could I bring the Tree inside? Btw I live in PA.

Sorry it took so long to reply.😅 But yes definitely take her inside during the winter because they are tropical plants and love humid warm temperatures.

Also, there are two types of avocado that I know of. What we Floridians call “Florida avocados” are huge avocados with a smooth rind, with a lighter green peel. And then there are Hass avocados that have a darker green, rough peel. That info will also help with additional suggestions.
