Is root rot inevitable? i got some pots without drainage and repotted a lot of my plants and it’s bothering me about possible root rot. it’s scaring me and i’m worrying that i need to move them back out into temporary plastic pots but it just won’t look the same? it feels so superficial, sorry. but is root rot inevitable without drainage??
It’s not. You just have to be extremely careful not to water too often and to do only a small amount of water. A squirt bottle might help you to distribute a small amount of water evenly around your plant.

You could consider drilling your own drainage holes into your pretty pots! There are lots of videos on YouTube on how to do it! Then you can still have the pretty look and also the drainage do you don’t have to worry to much about root rot

No drainage can work if you are a bit more advanced and know exactly how much water each of your plants needs as to not overwater, but this can be difficult if you are a newer plant parent. The best method is to combine having your plant in a plastic nursery pot (with drainage) living inside a decorative cache pot (no drainage) to take out to water, let run through, then put back into fancy pot after. Its also easier to repot from a flexible plastic pot that hard ceramic pots. But I hear you on wanting high style with your pots! As a designer, i’ve had to balance this and only put plants directly into no drainage pots if they are clear glass and i’m using Letchuza Pon (semi-hydro), or if I know the plant extremely well enough to understand the way its roots grow and their thickness and exactly how much water to give based on having had it for some time.

Definitely possible, and I would echo the “you just have to be careful.” Any water meter can help this. The way to alleviate that, honestly, is what Danika said above. Plastic pots inside the groovy pots you want to show off. However, my solution to this was learn the difference between a Dremel and a drill, borrow a friends Dremel, and figure out that science was on my side when shoving a diamond bit into the bottom of a glass pot. That’s the long solution, but doing this is when the artist in me got excited about the infinite (within reason) possibilities for what can be a planter. This is an example of what I mean (I put a hole in the bottom of this monster).
