New-ish fiddle leaf parent here! how do I keep it from becoming too spindly and leaning over? My fiddle leaf is absolutely LOVING being outside right now with the weather we’ve been having in the SE United States, so it’s grown a lot this summer. Do I need to cut it back to make it branch off like the nice full ones I’ve seen elsewhere? This is my very first fiddle leaf and I’m so proud of how far it’s come this year!

I’ve heard notching can stimulate growth but I’ve been afraid to do it.

I’ll have to look this up! I don’t even know what notching is.

you can definitely notch it (which is where you cut slits in the stem to promote new branch growth). Since you just got it though, I would wait until right after winter and then cut it. So that way in the spring it will grow back new branches, and they can grow all summer!

Look up notching a fiddle leaf fig on you tube. Tons of visual tutorials.

I just placed my Fiddle Leaf Fig outside. I hope it loves me for it. It’s about as big as yours.

This was almost 2 years ago. Now it’s taller than me and I’m 5’6”!
