hello! my dark star elephant ear alocasia has 3 yellowing leaves but just shot out a new growth right in the center. i did research, and it said alocasia’s kill off 1 or more leaves when having a new leaf lower to the bottom of the plant and i think that’s what’s happening. but if you guys think different please let me know i just got her last week and she’s so beautiful! it always hurts me when plants die :(
Leaves dying don’t necessarily mean the plant itself is dying. Some Alocasia can kill off a leaf when a new one comes out but more than one leaf dying is not really “normal”. Since you just got her, she might just be adjusting to her new environment. Not sure if you repotted her but plants, especially Alocasia, stress when they’re repotted. I wouldn’t worry too much. Just make sure you are taking good care of her, have her in a nice bright&humid spot (no direct light), and water when 90% dry and it should perk up in no time.
