I’ve had this fusion calathea for a little while now and it’s always putting out new leaves. But lately the new leaves have been browning and shriveling up. I lightly mist my calatheas almost daily, and I’m usually good with watering. Anyone know what’s going on with this guy??

a few questions, how far is it from a window? does it get any direct light? and what sort of water are you using? i use filtered water for all my plants but even that is too much for my prayer plants, planning on switching to rainwater or distilled. these look a lot like the crispy spots on my goeppertia orbifolia that i suspect was watered with tap water before i bought it at the grocery store

It’s about a foot from a NE facing window and gets bright indirect light for a few hours in the morning. I use tap water for all my plants but this is the only one that has browning like this.

ok since the lighting seems alright, it does sound like it’s damage from the hard water, especially if your tap has added chlorine and fluoride. this can kill mineral-sensitive plants like calatheas, so i’d recommend switching to distilled or rain water asap. any of the brown leaves won’t come back, but it should grow back in time if you’re able to flush the soil of excess minerals

Ty! I’ll definitely give distilled water a try
