Does anyone know the name of this plant? I got it as a birthday present but I have no idea what it is!? Thanks!

My guess is some kind of tradescantia, but the leaves seem a little to skinny 🤔

looks like an extremely etiolated tradescantia spathacea to me… mine grew leggy somewhat like this when i had it growing behind a sheer curtain
1 likeIt’s a Purple Heart tradescantia. Goes green, thin and lanky without sufficient light. Add a grow light or place in direct sun to darken the color. It can take both freezing and 100°F temperatures like a weed. I recommend you trim it for fullness. Place the cuttings directly into the pot ensuring at least one or two leaf nodes are buried and one node is above the soil. New growth will be thicker and darker in bright light. Water and feed as schedule. My tradescantia started as a hanging basket over a decade ago. I put it on the patio floor because it got too big. It spread to 2 more pots when last winter’s surprise freeze killed almost everything. This is it in a heatwave.
