My arrowhead plant and my silver dragon are turning brown at the tips… | Anything about plants 🇺🇸 | Planta-Community

My arrowhead plant and my silver dragon are turning brown at the tips of the leaves. I’ve had them both for a couple of months, and they’ve been doing fine, but this started about two weeks ago and I can’t figure it out. It happens faster with the arrowhead. I’ve treated them with fungicide, been very careful with watering, but it doesn’t seem to be stopping. I had them on the porch but that was too bright, so I brought them into my office. They’re both indirectly under a grow light for 12 hours a day. It’s not on in the pictures. They’re also close to the AC that was running 24/7 for a few weeks. Does anyone have any insights as to what could be going on?

The room temperature is around 72 degrees. I can move them further away from the light—they’re about 1.5 feet away. I think I’ll try that. Thanks so much!

I don’t think it’s light. Don’t move them farther away. I think syngoniums alocasias just do this when they don’t have the exact humidity they want or they get under/over watered ONCE. Mine have brown tips & they grow like crazy still. It’s normal

Thank you, I’ll keep them where they are!

They don’t look like burns. They look a little dry. Burns would not only affect the tips.

I’m guessing it’s a low humidity problem. Especially since they’re near the AC, the ambient humidity (usually 40-50% inside) is likely even lower. They are tropical plants and would thrive in 60-70%, so when the humidity gets that low it can harm the plant

This would be my guess as well

I have a hygrometer set up on the shelves where they are, and the humidity level hasn’t been below 50% for weeks. Do you think that the grow light could be causing the moisture to evaporate faster from the leaves and make them dry out that way?

My Alocasia have been THRIVING lately now that I don’t let their soul dry out. I wait till they’re about 50% dry and they are showing out. I’m finding that my syngonium seem to want the same thing.

I’m going to check the soil right after work. I might have underwatered.

I forgot to mention I kinda weigh it in the air to figure out if it needs watering. Please let me know if that doesn’t make sense…
