hello :) i’m a very new plant mom and i have 4 plants in my collection so far. a monstera adansonii, a silver sword philodendron, a pilea, and a red anthurium. i’m wondering if there’s any tips for new plant parents or any tips on how to care for those specific plants. i water all of them when i feel the top inch of soil is dry, and i bottom water every time. if there’s anything i could be doing different please enlighten me! :)

My advice is to read as much as you can about each plant you have and any you’re considering. It’s a hobby that always presents opportunities to learn more! Before you know it, you’ll end up using what you learned from one plant to give you some kind of direction for taking care of others.

Planta has been boosting its info tabs. Have been checking them out over past couple of days. My method for finding reliable is that I read several sources and use those as opinions and options. And along the way I realize that it’s not so much (usually) about what’s right or wrong but what I think I can do based on what I learn. And it helps to consider that people have been bringing plants indoors for centuries and there’s a bazillion options for making them happy. The only thing I can think of offhand as bad advice are those sources that say to add milk or sugar or some funky human food that’s probably just mean. However, I keep coming across articles from the spruce and gardening know how that seem responsible. Plus I’m finding lots of good things on YouTube. I recommend that you just diversify your info resources. You got this! One or a dozen or more worrisome plant episodes doesn’t mean anything about your lack of caring—just what you’ve tried and what the next thing is.

Watch Summer Rayne Oakes’ houseplant 101 series on YouTube! It goes over very helpful beginner tips. And she also has a series where she shares the card of specific plants :)

Pilea, are drama queens so be ready for that. Monstera depending on conditions is how it’s gonna go mine is in water and is going great. My best advice is to really filll out Planta info for each plant, invest in a soil meter and finally I would make a running spread sheet for each plant you have and have basics like humidity requirements light requirements ect and go from there. Everything else is something you deal with as it comes and there is so many wonderful people here to help you with questions and concerns!!!
