Who else is growing or is familiar with pandan/screw pine? Is it normal to send roots down from the stem? This is Amary, with pups!

Yes! They are aerial roots. This is a sign that it’s happy and trying to establish itself. Do you know how big they get?

Awesome! No, this is my first time growing them. Amary is almost a foot tall.

Wow, so on Guam they get about 20 feet or so and some people eat the fruit.

Wow! I don’t think Amary will get that big. I use her leaves to flavor some desserts.

I think you’re right. Back home it’s in the ground just growing wherever lol. I think it’s wild that you’re growing and cooking with it. Its giving me a nostalgic feeling ☺️ good luck with your tree!

You’re growing pandan? 😮 That’s so cool! Are you in the US? May I ask what state or growing zone?

6a in Chicago. I treat Amary as an indoor plant though.
