I got this and was told it was a sedum variety, and am very annoyed because upon research I believe it to be an elephant plant. As a result it has been getting way too much sun, which I (think) is causing the shriveled leaves. However I don’t know much about these plants and could be wrong, and don’t know if that browning inside area is normal growth or another problem. If anyone has any tips or advice that would be appreciated!

It does look like a most likely stressed elephant bush plant. I wanna say variegated but I have a variegated specimen in my collection and it has red stems. My guess for the brown is a form of rot, do you top water?

I was, then worries about the rot and re planted it (week ago) and hadn’t seen any root rot but the area isn’t getting better

I would suggest looking into hydrogen peroxide treatment. It’s usually safe on plants and is typically used for treating root rot.
