Anyone know about trimming tomato plants from the top? My Purple Cherokee is getting way to big for my apartment, she’s well over 5ft tall now. I really want to keep her, just maybe shorter if possible? Those are 5ft posts. Any help appreciated.

If she hasn’t blossomed yet, you can prune her down quite a bit and where you cut her, she will sprout two more branches so it will make her fuller. She also needs tons of direct sun and regular feeding to bloom and fruit indoors. Tomatoes also need to be pollinated to fruit. Hopefully you have all that figured out so you can grow tomatoes inside your home!

She is blossoming, she’s in direct sun and I have a grow light for rainy weeks, she’s fed regularly and has compost mulch. I pollinate with qtips but we shall see if that works.
2 LikesThat works!!! You should get tomatoes! I wouldn’t prune off any branches with blossoms at this point. Next year you can trim early to get it to bush out earlier before it blossoms.
