I disagree with “plantDR” diagnosis of “overwatering”, as I use a moisture meter before watering. Any other ideas on what could cause small yellow-brownish spots on a philodendron. Some of the spots have slight indentations. Maybe burn marks from sun or a fungus or bacteria? Maybe chemical burn from fertilizer? Any ideas or feedback welcomed!

Also looks on the early stages so you can search up some ways to help and stop the process before it gets any worse

Thanks for the feedback… I’ll research it further and come up with a treatment plan. If anyone has had success with treating rust, I’m open to that feedback as well! Thanks!

Could it be burn from the sun when water droplets were on it in those spots?

Looks like extra floral nectaries (not sure if the spelling is correct). Lots of philodendron have these, it’s how they protect themselves from pests! Looks alarming, but it’s completely normal 🙂

Extra floral nectaries. They can be normal but if they are excessive, I’d check for pests. The plant will produce this nectar to try to “call” beneficial bugs to come help them out with the pest.
