I think my Alocasia silver dragon is going to bloom?? Does anyone have experience with Alocasia blooms and if I should cut it off to preserve the plants energy and resources? Does it risk the plant surviving to keep it?

Mine was blooming when I got it but it never fully bloomed so I would not know. I’m sure it’ll be alright:)!

Hi! I have gotten two blooms on my Frydek and I cut them off before they fully formed or opened because I heard it is best to cut them so the plant focuses its energy on new leaf growth. I don’t think your plant will necessarily suffer if you leave the blooms BUT it might slow down on growing leaves because it is using its energy on the blooms. Btw, your Maharani leaf is just gorgeous!!

And also, congrats on the bloom! It means your plant is happy 🤗

Yeah go ahead and cut it. The bloom is kinda just about what you see now. Kinda alien looking pod flower. Pretty fully formed already.

my alocasia dragon scale blooms quite often and the blooms aren’t anything crazy but i still love to see it so i usually leave them until they die out naturally then cut it. i don’t think it matters anyways you can either cut or leave it depends on you
