Curious if anyone has had this happen. Seems that my Birkin Philodendron sprouted a different type of philodendron leaf?! Or is this variation normal for Birkin?

I've had this happen so many times and i finally gave up on birkin. It reverts so easily and unexpectedly and kinda ruins the plant for me. The varigation pattern on birkin is not stable at all. So to answer your question if it's normal, it is. I'd say pick the one you want and cut off the other parts. If you favor the birkin you can see if you can keep the Birkin varigation going.

Berkins are a variation of the red congo (the leaves you’re seeing now) and when the plant reverts, that is what happens. You can try cutting the reverted part (propagate it for a new red Congo) and see if you can get your birkin to sprout more striped leaves… it looks like there’s more than one plant in your pot, maybe one of them isn’t reverted? They need a lot of indirect light for the best chance to not revert

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll try to cut the red out and propagate it!

I have a Birkin as well, although I’ve never seen this happen before 👀

A lot of box store plants come with multiple in the same pot - if you haven’t repotted that could be it or it could be reverting - more sunlight will keep it variegated
