I just “rescued” this little guy from Walmart. He was drowning in water. The pot he was in had no drainage at all and was soaked. I repotted him with new soil in a pot that drains so I hope he makes it. It’s a fiddle leaf fig. They had also stuck the identification card right through one of his leaves. 🥺 poor little fella. This is my first fig so I’m not real sure how to take care of him. I’m going to probably bring him to my office with me. We don’t have windows in there but I do have a table top grow light.

Heartless thing to stab the leaf with a tag!

Fiddle leaf likes natural light and does not like to be moved if it’s thriving well to its current place.

You saved him! Not all heroes wear capes! I’d caution you about the office though: FLFs are notorious about being finicky about light and temperature. If your office blows cold air like most, you might see some significant leaf droppage, and I’m not sure a grow bulb will be enough to supplement a total lack of natural sunlight. I’m rooting for you and your new plant baby!!

Hmm. I may end up having to rehome him then sadly. Unless he can handle living on my front porch. I can’t have plants in my house (😭) because of my animals. We have too many who would chew on them. So my office and porch are the only places I can have any.

You might try it…. I have three cats and a dog and I have my FLF in a raised planter but the animals don’t bother it anyway. They are more likely to chew on the “tendrils” of my stringy plants like my dragon tree, ponytail palm or spider plant.
