First off. I don’t know what this plant is. But it was inside and my cat ate so much of it. I put this outside in full sun. It’s been raining for a week but very humid. Should I cut off the leaves the cat has destroyed? They’re turning brown. Also would I be able to propagate this if I could keep it away from the cat? Thanks so much. I’m new to this but I have over 60 plants now!

Sorry I had to take a pic before I lost the light. Anyway, it’s still seems tricky. My thoughts were canna or dwarf banana but that main vein doesn’t look like banana to me.

I was just talking to my husband about it. He thinks it is a banana plant he remembers buying a banana something for me at some point and I have no other plants that look like this.

I’m gonna remove it from the full sun and put it in part sun out back and we’ll see what happens. It’ll be like a gender reveal lol

Right.. well banana trees do ruffle at the edges. Some more than others. As far a propagating, it should be easy.. they are so much easier to work with in warmer/humid & subtropical climate. I’m from the islands and many years ago, my husband stuck an entire 7’ banana tree into the ground no roots (I told him not to but…). It multiplied like crazy lol. I wouldn’t worry about the leaves your cat messed up unless you’re noticing fungal issues or for esthetics.

It looks like a banana plant or from that family at least hmm 🤔 . This is mine . I’d say leave it as it will eventually turn yellow and shrivel off & yup you can propagate- I did this a few days ago as there was little ones in this plant when I repotted. 🪴
