Do you guys have African Violets? My newest rescue Please share if you do. I love to see others with them. People look at me weird when I buy them at the store. 😂 they really aren’t that hard.

I use a self watering pot. Amazon, Esty, eBay sells them. I got a few pots at my local nursery. I use Schultz fertilizer every water. 7 drops in winter. 10 if it’s leafing. Leafing means it’s going to bloom soon. I’ll post pictures of their pots. They get bright light all day. No sun. I prune when they die. My other violets are on my page. The white one is first to bloom this year!

Omg thank you so so so much!! I do not fertilize her every watering! Your plants are so beautiful! I always steer clear of the self water pots bc of root rot but I feel like she needs it to keep the soil moist. Thank you for all your help my violets thank you too lol! 🩷🩷

I had a thriving AV in the same setup - self watering clay pot and fertilizing with Schultz. It thrived for years until it suddenly wasn’t. I found an AV group and discovered I was over fertilizing. I was using the every-watering ratio, but wicking plants should get half that as it’s not being flushed out of the soil. I think my clay pot was clogging up too. I ended up having to decapitate it and replant. The AV group also said that when wicking/self-watering, the percentage of perlite should be much higher.

The repot me soil is that way. That’s why I like it so much. All my violets thrive in it. I don’t water with fertilizer every water. Only in growing season. Winter I only do once a month. In those pots my watering is about every 2 weeks.
