I put small rocks up to about a half inch in the bottom of any pots without drainage before I fill them with soil. That way the roots of the plant arenāt sitting in any water that drains to the bottom :)

Use the decorative pots as a catch pot! Just put your plant in one of those black plastic pots with lots of drainage, then put it inside one of the pretty, decorative pots! Just make sure whenever you water not to leave your plant sitting in water or else it will could get root rot.

This is exactly what I do. I find it so much easier to be able to take it out and check it, rather than wondering if thereās water sitting at the bottom of the pot and worrying about it all the time!

Pots with just one drainage hole are okay but I donāt recommend pots with no drainage :) there are some ways that you can drill holes in the bottom of them with special drill bits I think. I havenāt tried this tho

First choice would 100% be what Ada recommended!! Itās pretty risky watering in a pot with no drainage. If thatās not possible, I would make sure to carefully try to dump out any excess water each time you water your plants, and make sure you never overwater it! I recommend getting a moisture meter stick to help with this!! It was $8 on Amazon when I got mine and itās amazing!!

Iām on team cache pot. Most of my plants are in plastic nursery pots with drainage, then that pot gets a fancy cover pot to live in. It makes it a million times easier to repot from a squish-able plastic nursery pot than a hard pot. Especially if it gets root bound. So you just pull the plastic pot out of its decorative one, water it, let it drip through, then when stopped dripping, stick it back in cover pot. Easy.
