šŸ†˜ !! I bought a gardenia bonsai online and she arrived about a week ago. She initially had a lot of buds, but they start to wilt and soon as they open and look like this (see photo) within a day of opening. She also had a few yellow leaves and I don’t think there are any more now than there were a week ago. I know gardenias are sensitive, so maybe she just needs some time to recover from the shipping and to get used to the new environment? I have her in indirect sunlight in a room that gets a ton of light. But what’s worrying me is that when I tried to use a moisture meter by her roots, I couldn’t even push it in there. The akadama around her is very loose and the water runs off immediately, but I’m concerned nothing’s actually making it to her roots. Under different circumstances, I’d take a look at her roots and repot her if needed. But since she’s so delicate, I’m concerned I’ll just do more damage. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks ahead of time! šŸ™šŸ¼

It is really a matter of how easy you are on your plants when repotting. If she isn’t TOO root-bound, just put her in the same pot but different soil, so she doesn’t get too stressed out. Hope that helped.

Thank you. I’ll see how she’s doing in the morning and decide then. I don’t want her to get any bigger but right now, it’s about making sure she survives.
