I’m new to plants. My roommate gave me this orchid early spring and I’ve been able to keep it alive! It did have yellow blooms, but not any longer. Is this normal? And what other plants would be good for a beginner? I only have my bedroom currently to store plants and it has one small window.

With just one small window and a beginner, one of your best bets is a ZZ plant! The leaves are beautiful and it doesn’t require much work. They also come in different colours too. The raven ZZ is on my wishlist. Just water thoroughly when the soil is completely completely dry. Snake plants are also a good option (same watering method as the ZZ).

hey! this is a dendrobium orchid, probably dendrobium nobile, and it looks very healthy! orchids loose their blooms it’s normal just like any flower, nothing blooms year round. these orchids like bright light and they like to dry out between waterings.
