Help!!! I can’t seem to find a straight answer to what the best potting soils are for most house plants. I have a mix of monsteras, philodendrons, wandering dudes, etc. I would prefer to make my own soil if I can! If anyone has any recipes please let me know! :) happy planting!

You can’t get a straight answer because there isn’t one. In my opinion, you can adjust your care to the soil you’ve received. I think it’s another great way to get to know each plant personally! A good place to start with soil is researching the plants natural habitat/normal growing conditions.

miracle gro is not only perfect it’s also cheaper than making your own! i usually add a little more pearlite and maybe a little bit of compost or nutrient rich soil, but for the type of plants you have i don’t see a need to make your own soil unless there are certain components you don’t like in soil like coco coir and peat moss which are known to be fungus gnat breeding grounds and increase the risk of root rot if you’re not careful about watering. another option is pearlite, vermiculite, leca, or aquarium pon as a semi-hydroponic medium (prevents root rot and fungus gnats but needs more frequent fertilisation)
