Hello plant experts! I could use advice on this Fiddle leaf. I purchased it from the Sill and it arrived almost dead. Planta told me it probably wouldn’t make it but I could try. I’m happy to report it’s come back to life and has been sprouting new leaves. However it’s new growth is coming in on the bottom on what looks like new branches. Should I be putting them into a new pot by itself or is this normal? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Don’t give up!! I have one that was on its way out too and I actually pulled it away from the window and loves it new spot . It’s in a sunny room .My plant looks just like yours and I am propagating a lower leaf in water which is going great.. Sometimes they are so finicky that you need to find the perfect spot ..

Thank you Joy! Do we just leave the leaves at the bottom and stems to grow?

You could cut some of you want and propagate or leave them .. I have a few tiny ones growing now and I will leave those and see what happens 😃

It depends on the shape you’re going for. For more tree like, cut the branches at the bottom. This will allow the nutrients to be focused on the leaves towards the top. For more bush like, cut the top off. Over time you’ll have a more even, bushier plant. You can also notch the stem/branch above any node. This will make the plant unable to focus as much nutrients above the notch you made, thus allowing more nutrients to the node just below it hopefully causing new growth to start from there. Cloning gel over the node you want to grow can also help. I just started doing this recently to my fiddle leaf, about 2 weeks ago. I already have many new leaves and branches starting to grow basically wherever I decided I wanted growth.

Thank you! Great news about yours. Is the notch just a small cut?

leave them until they’re bigger with well established root systems
